Quest 6: The Missing MinerTip: If you still haven’t spent any time leveling and gaining skill, now is certainly the time to do so, this quest will force you to face some more difficult foes than what you have seen so far. The goblin camps, mines and crypts are all open to you at this point so spend some time exploring and leveling your character before attempting this quest. How to Start the QuestAfter you complete the Crypt Disturbances quest, you’ll need to wait for the blood moon that evening before proceeding with the story. You can either sleep through it or wait for the story event in the evening. Not a bad time to check out the cemetery if you haven’t. The next day, you can head into town, you wont find Rorick at the guard tower as usual, and most townsfolk won’t be where you are used to seeing them, except the tavern keeper, who will tell you that his wife Lily said there was some kind of an uproar at the miner’s guildhall. At the Mining Guild HallIf you go to the mining guild hall, you will find most of the town outside yelling at Naven. Rorick will be there as well trying to quell the uprising. You can double click on any of the townsfolk to get all the conversation detail (basically Noah has gone missing after investigating the sealed door to the lower levels of the mines being left open a jar). Gunther will be yelling at Naven for not allowing them to search the lower levels for Noah, the Miner, who is missing. Many of the other townsfolk will join in, but Naven will be resistant to allowing anyone to head down to the lower levels for a variety of reasons (or excuses) whether it be productivity, safety, or just authority. ![]() Eventually Rorick will order the crowd to break, now you have a moment to interject and tell Rorick you bring news from the crypts. He will ask you to come with him to the guard tower to talk. Follow him there. After letting him know the bad news on the crypts, you can tell he is beginning to feel overwhelmed with threats on every front. You can also sense his frustration and distrust of Naven. When you ask about investigating the situation, he will say to do so freely as long as you don’t break any laws in town and that its up to Naven to enforce his own rules in the mines; and that he is also suspicious of his behavior... ![]() To the Tavern! After your conversation with Rorick, you may have noticed many of the miners headed into the tavern. You will want to go there and talk with them next. They will be discussing the situation. After their short conversation you may ask if there is any other way down to the lower levels, in which Mark will essentially reply stating there is no other way other than with a key and Naven is holding all the keys. ![]() This will remind William that Samantha’s husband used to have a key and that Naven probably never remembered that her husband had a spare key to the lower levels of the mines. You can then offer to go check with her in which Gunther will zealously interject and state he’s going with you in which William will talk him down to not attract attention to their activities. ![]() At Samantha’s HouseAfter this go and speak with Samantha, she will say she saw you at the Guild Hall gathering and wishes she could do something to help in which you can explain to her that she may be able to help with the key. She will state that she kept everything her husband had and a moment later, she’ll find you the key. Before giving it to you, she will ask you if you could look for her husband’s remains while on the lower levels where he was trapped/crushed at; she would like to have her husband’s ring back . You can agree to this (this will initiate SQ3: Widow’s Ring, based on your skill set you may or may not be able to complete this quest yet but it doesn’t hurt to accept it). ![]() Whether you accept to do this for her or not, she will give you the key. From here, you can head to the mines; but before you go make sure you get lots of healing potions, reagents, supplies, etc.. Maybe consider sharpening your swords/axes at the smith as well, any advantage you can get from this point will be good as some of the enemies you will face during the quest will be harder than what you have before. In The MinesOnce in the mines, you’ll want to head south and then east (see screenshot below). You will come to a locked door going down the one passage, on the map you will notice text that has already been marked with level 2 passage. The key you got from Samantha will unlock the door. ![]() Head through the doorway, and across the bridge, you will come to a small building, follow the path inside and then up the stairs. There may be some items in the crate and barrel... Once ready head to the platform on the upper level of the building, there is a lever to the right of the platform that will operate it to go down. Press the lever it will take a moment to go down then head to through the lower passage. (Tip: There is some more barrels to your left to search before you head down through the passage way). ![]() In the Second Level of the MinesOnce you head through the passage, there is a chance that there could be one or two shadowy figures (cultists) that spawn right there when you enter; so be ready to fight. If you were lucky and none spawned do not worry, danger is right around the corner. While this quest is active, cultists and orcs will spawn around the lower level of the caves... If you don’t feel like searching, Noah can be found at one of the following areas in the lower level of the mines: ![]() Tip: Make sure you thoroughly go into areas, unless you enter a region he is hiding in, he will not come out. Upon entering the region that Noah is hiding in, he will reveal himself and rejoice that you have found him. Dialog will automatically be started with him, and you can ask him a series of questions of which ultimately he will explain that Naven is a traitor who has been conspiring with these cultists and orcs for money and providing mining supplies to them while they try to unearth some kind of demonic portal. He will then tell you to be careful as we leave as there are orcs and cultists everywhere, as well as a brief mention about big rock like creatures (earth elementals). ![]() Tip: you may or may not run into an earth elemental, it’s not a requirement to fight them during this quest as they are meant to be something else to fight and grind on casually. They are tough when using just physical weapons. They are weaker to magic. After You Have Found NoahMake sure you take your time heading back but avoid areas you do not need to go. If an enemy spawns be sure to clear it, you will have to fight one last battle before getting out of the second level. Once you approach the entrance, a couple cultists and an orc will be waiting for you (maybe more if you have quest difficulty set higher). You will need to fight them and keep Noah alive. Noah is tough compared to the other miner’s in the third quest but you still need to be aware of his life. You won’t be able to just run from this fight either, so do not try to bolt up to the upper level, you will not be able to leave the second level until the enemies have been defeated. Once they have been cleared, Noah will say “let’s get out of here before more show up.” Head for the entrance once on the first level you should be in the clear to get back to town, take the lift back up to and head out the previously locked door and then to the mine entrance, once back in town. Noah will speak and say “let’s go see the captain of the guard.” Go and see Rorick at the guard tower in town. He will be amazed that you have returned with Noah and then Noah will tell him about Naven’s betrayal of Brimstone, Rorick will then call for guards to go and arrest Naven, a moment later, the guards will be passing by with Naven as they whisk him away to jail. ![]() After The QuestRorick leads you into what will be the next quest at the end of the conversation in helping them collect evidence. You will have to wait until an upcoming release for Q7: Collect The Evidence which will focus on gathering three pieces of physical evidence against Naven. Until then if you haven’t finished SQ3: Widows Ring and SQ4: The Moon Rose. Be sure to check those out. The moon rose quest is especially in depth and is covers a new area in the game and is essentially a two part quest. |
